Business Idea

Kid-Powered Theme Park

Business Idea, Event or ActivityTom WalmaComment

Idea: An amusement park containing carnival-sized rides and small roller-coasters which are all powered by kids, either while they're riding the ride or while they're in line for the ride. They'd power the rides by pedaling, pulling on a rope, spinning a giant wheel, etc. The fact that they'd be contributing to the fun of other kids would provide a deeper level of contentment than just passively experiencing the rides. Also, it'd wear them out, and therefore give their parents some private time later in the evening.

Breakfast Brick

Business Idea, FoodSimon CarlsonComment

Idea: A "fast casual" Chipotle-like restaurant for breakfast food (like a breakfast buffet, but with someone standing between you and the food, making you late for work). Or a drive-thru where the breakfast food as squeezed into a portable "breakfast brick" that you can eat in your car

Funeral Attendance Stand-Ins

Silliness, Business IdeaNick LeydorfComment

Idea: An app to hire a stand-in if you don't want to go to a funeral, but you feel socially obligated to attend. They could sign your name in the funeral guest book, pretend to be you (except when talking to the handful of other people at the funeral who know you), listen to and/or record other people's conversations to give you info to use in future social situations, etc.

DoTube

App, Business IdeaTom WalmaComment

Idea: A way to "fix the internet" by putting blogs, animations, and all of the miscellaneous stuff of the Internet inside a YouTube-like window, because nobody wants to go to wwww.someguyswebsite.com, and because YouTube's recommendations, subscriptions, top videos of the day list, view counts, etc. allow discovery of new content and for content to "go viral", and because a YouTube-like ad system allows content creators to make money

Human Fossilization

Body Augmentation, Business IdeaLoyd DiggComment

Idea (NSFW): A service to fossilize beloved relatives who pass away, instead of burying or cremating them. It's purpose (and ONLY purpose) is to help loved ones remember and reminisce about them

Fitbit Reward Mystery Box Service

Business Idea, App, HealthTom WalmaComment

Idea: A service that delivers you customized candy/rewards inside clear locked boxes which you can't open until you meet your exercise goals, as determined by your Fitbit (or fitness tracker). Or you can choose for the rewards to be "mystery boxes", including possible cash prizes, but if you don't exercise enough to unlock the box within a few weeks, you have to ship it back, not knowing if you would've been a millionaire

Futuristic Tiny Houses

Business Idea, Environmentalism, Futuristic, Invention, Tech, Tiny HousesTom WalmaComment

Tom's idea for a futuristic tiny house where most (or all) of your stuff is wheeled in and out by robots. The idea also solves gerrymandering, makes "universal basic income" feasible, solves the Flint Water Crisis, and gives people the freedom to escape their miserable 9-to-5 office jobs and live nomadic lives of leisure. But everyone opposes it because it involves sharing toilets

Open Mic Franchising

Business Idea, Event or Activity, Standup ComedyDaniel KumapayiComment

Idea: Franchising of standup comedy open mics (and possibly other types of shows, like burlesque) by selling promotional templates, merch, and maybe even audio equipment as a package to people who want to run shows in other towns

Mobile Farms

Environmentalism, Futuristic, Tech, Business Idea, RobotsTom WalmaComment

Urban farms in shipping-container sized flower pots which fit in semi-trucks/trains/etc. That way, you can transport them to "farming factories" in both the spring to plant the crops and the fall to harvest them, so you don't have to farm inefficiently with human hands. You could also transport them into buildings to protect them from crop-destroying weather, and put them in suburban yards instead of lawns

Bored App

NSFW, Tech, Business Idea, App, Event or ActivityAaron WhiteComment

When you're bored, get on board the "bored app", and it’ll give you a list of stuff to do (outside of your house) near your current location at the current time, which is tailored to your interests. Also: "baby on bored" for stuff you can do with your kids, "over bored", opening businesses off-hours on-demand through the app, and creepy work bathroom stories
