Everything on Hangers

Idea: A tiny house where almost everything in the house (even furniture) is on hangers, and robots move the stuff on hangers across a series of interconnected racks/rods (including power lines that also function as hanger rods), so it can easily be stored in the ceiling or sent to a neighborhood warehouse to be stored and/or cleaned. Also: keeping bugs and pets on the ground from reaching your stuff; transporting stuff on power lines would prevent package thieves from stealing it; since everything is on hangers you could lift up the top of the tiny house and slide in a themed bottom part; curing the modern epidemic of stubbed and mangled toes

Real Estate Buddies

Idea: An app or web site to help friends or family find and purchase adjacent houses to live next door to each other. Also: does this sound too similar to creating a cult; do you really want to live next to your friends and/or family; ways this could work, including buying an empty lot next to a new house for a friend to build a house on later, notifications for when neighboring properties to friends go up for sale, finding neighboring apartments or tiny houses, etc.

Floating Reservoir Cities

Idea: To create eco-friendly, solar-powered floating cities in water reservoirs such as Lake Powell or Lake Mead, to shade the water to reduce evaporation and algae growth, and also to reduce or eliminate house heating and cooling costs. Also: putting some houses on docks and floating other houses on the water, and what to do about pipes; the risk of jerks dumping trash and sewage into the drinking water; how floating houses would perform in different apocalypse scenarios

Slideout Front Entry Room

Idea: To replace the typical front door of a house with a "front entry room", for which, leading outside, there are two automatic sliding doors (one that opens side-to-side, and one, like an inch away, that opens upward), and leading inside there is another automatic sliding door. The purpose of this little entry room is to a) allow delivery men to put packages into the room so they don't get stolen off the porch, b) to keep the heat/AC in the house (especially for tiny houses), and c) to eliminate the chance of a swinging door smacking into someone heading through the door in the other direction at the same time. Also: the front entry room could collapse like an accordian or fold up to be flush against the wall when not in use (especially for tiny houses); the risk of it failing or giving someone a claustrophobic panic attack; stories of falling injuries, including Ben's story of falling off a statue at a sports stadium

Outdoor Concert Survival Bunkers

Idea: An outdoor concert venue where each set of 4 or so seats has a bunker underneath, where you can use the restroom, take a shower, sleep, etc. People would own the bunkers, and they could rent them out during concerts to help pay for them, and also use them as survival bunkers during nuclear wars, floods, hurricanes, etc. Also: you could go down into the bunker for peace and quiet and to check your phone during the boring parts of a concert; bums might want to live in the bunkers full time; there might be chaos if a disaster occurs during a concert and both the people who own the bunker and the people to whom they rented it out for the concert want to use it

Stuff-On-Demand Modular Tiny RVs (Tom Walma)

Idea: Pickup-truck-sized RVs which have flat truck beds which are divided into four rectangle segments onto which modular "RV cubes" containing your stuff (or stuff that you rent) can be popped on and off on demand at rest stops. Also: "RV cubes" containing beds, tables, jacuzzis, or gear for outdoor activities; ordering stuff from Amazon and shipping it to a rest stop which puts it into an "RV cube" so it's ready to pop onto your vehicle when you arrive; a "bathroom RV cube" with a toilet that's emptied and cleaned at the rest stop; "RV cube" speed dating; designing the future of the world like we're all in the movie "Speed"

GoZebos and Snap-In Windows

Idea: Gazebos and other structures (yurts, sunbathing pods, dune buggies, pontoon boats) which can be converted between "open-air structures" and "enclosed shelter-providing structures" by snapping in/out modular clear plastic windows. The idea is, instead of living in a "house", to instead live most of your life in the open air, and only enclose yourself "indoors" (i.e. within walls and windows) for brief moments of shelter, such as sleeping, avoiding cold or rainy weather, using the bathroom, etc. Also: robots transporting most of your stuff between the structures and a neighborhood warehouse on-demand; the increased danger of bear attacks; a music festival where people construct small temporary shelters around the stage and live there for days or weeks

Futuristic Tiny Houses vs. Universal Basic Income

Idea: Tom thinks his futuristic (and cheap) tiny house idea is a better idea than having a "universal basic income", and his futuristic tiny houses would also eliminate house chores, allow you to move instantly without packing your stuff, give you time to pursue your dreams, and even solve infrastructure problems like the Flint Water Crisis. He sees them as giving you true freedom (as opposed to the current system of wage slavery), but his podcast guests see them as a sterile prison

Hurricane-Proof Housing Ideas

Ideas for hurricane-proof housing by myself and others, including floating houses in water-filled holes, "indoor tiny house(s)" that reside inside a full-sized house or skyscraper or standalone "shell" (like an iPhone case for a house) which can be towed away with your stuff inside if a hurricane comes (leaving the shell behind), houses where most of your stuff is continuously wheeled in and out of your house by robots to and from a neighborhood warehouse which can be hurricane-proof and/or flood-proof, and floating entire cities on ping-pong balls. Also: People seem incapable of seeing beyond natural disasters to design and plan houses and cities to withstand hurricanes and global warming sea rise. They're like the villain who was frozen in fear as Austin Powers drove a steamroller towards him at a snail's pace

Idea: Houses where most of the furniture and possessions are wheeled in and out on demand by small Roomba-sized robots. Also: getting rid of the idea of "themed rooms" like "bedroom" and "bathroom", the elimination of house chores, wheelable toilets with privacy snuggies, sharing appliances and select items with neighbors and with strangers on the global shipping grid, moving without packing and how it could lead to civil war

Apocalypse Tiny Houses

Tom's obsession with "black balls" (author Nick Bostrom's metaphor for future technologies that could end humanity) gives him the idea for tiny houses which are built to withstand apocalyptic disasters, such as virus outbreaks or nuclear/meteor firestorms. Since they're mobile, you can drive them into apocalypse testing facilities, such as a "car wash that uses fire instead of water", to make sure they actually work

Habitat for Hipsterity

Exercising in a gym is selfishly controlling machines (i.e. exercise equipment) in a way that benefits nobody else, and therefore provides you no contentment. And even the selfish benefits aren't perceptible enough to motivate you to do it. Why not instead have a charity where you build tiny houses for exercise? You could make it convenient and build the tiny houses indoors in a gym-like building on your own schedule. And you could either donate them to charity, or work towards earning your own tiny house, which might allow you to quit your day job and pursue your hipster creative dreams

Smell-O-Vision

Hanging Human Beehive Skyscraper

An extremely lightweight skyscraper shaped like a giant beehive that hangs down from giant "St. Louis Arch"-sized arch(es), above existing skyscrapers, where the people and all of their stuff are flown in and out on drones which look like giant bees.

Also: rotating them around a city through a series of arches on a suspended cable, tea-bagging the Trump tower, beehive-dweller bullying, an idea for the biggest business of all time
