Mind-Controlled Yoga Ropes

Health, Futuristic, Silliness, Tech, RobotsTom WalmaComment

Idea: Yoga ropes that you control with your mind so you can stretch your body without using your muscles to push your bones around (because using muscle ruins the relaxation of stretching and yawning). Also: enabling stretches which aren't possible using muscles; accidentally getting stuck in a Jigsaw trap from the Saw movies; using a combination of a mind-controlled hammock or bed and a mind-controlled toilet so you don't have to get up to use the bathroom

Far Out Diet

Health, Futuristic, SciFi, SillinessTom WalmaComment

Idea: To shoot overweight people into space so that they can't cheat on their diet, and therefore scientists can gather better diet data. Also: in the movie "Gravity", Sandra Bullock is risking her life jumping from spaceship to spaceship to avoid space debris. In this case, people would be risking their lives jumping from spaceship to spaceship...for a candy bar; overweight people in space could accidentally serve as appetizers for aliens who might develop a taste for human meat

Beerscreen

Invention, Health, SillinessChris YoungComment

Idea: Either something that you add to beer to cause you to gradually sweat out sunscreen, or beer in sunscreen that can be absorbed through the skin. Also: if you smell like beer, alcoholic men might try to lick you, other odd and possibly dangerous ways to ingest alcohol

Upside-Down Cardio

Health, SillinessTom WalmaComment

Idea: To do cardio upside-down to help you cough up pollutants which are stuck in your lungs (such as tar or asbestos) to reduce your risk of developing lung cancer. Also: "handy", riding rollercoasters to dislodge kidney stones, becoming the special needs section of the Nobel Prize winners

Food Oasis

Business Idea, Charity, Food, Health, Politics and Social IssueTom WalmaComment

Idea: A service for ordering and purchasing healthy fresh foods in convenience stores and gas stations where there are no nearby grocery stores (i.e. in "food deserts"). Customers pre-ordering via a phone app, intelligent predictive demand algorithms, and order sniping would allow this to be financially plausible. Also: solving a major world problem as a form of revenge to steal the glory from another person trying to solve the same problem

Detroit Pyramid

Health, ArtTom WalmaComment

Idea: To use ancient/low-tech building techniques and (well-paid) manual labor to build a giant pyramid in Detroit out of the waste material of torn down buildings. Also: Flint Stonehenge, watching people move the 10+ ton blocks is more entertaining than viewing a completed pyramid, building a pyramid for exercise

Note: This episode was recorded in a Subway restaurant (because our recording venue was unexpectedly closed when we arrived)

Gym Truck

Health, App, Business Idea, TechTom WalmaComment

Idea: An Uber-like service for delivering parking-space-sized gyms to people's houses for the duration of a workout. Also: could be used for playing VR videogames, could replace strip clubs and sleazy hookup hotels, could incorporate health food delivery and personal trainers (or polar bears), flipping off delivery vehicles of unhealthy foods (i.e. pizza)

Uncooked Chicken Diet

Evil, Health, Silliness, FoodDan TurcoComment

Idea: To intentionally eat uncooked chicken to get sick in order to lose weight. It would be normal uncooked chicken with cooking instructions on the package that leave it undercooked, and these instructions would justify charging twice the normal price. Also: a few other ridiculously unhealthy ideas for losing weight

Reverse Pacemaker

Health, Invention, TechTom WalmaComment

Idea: An implantable medical device that detects when your heart stops, alerts a hospital, and then, instead of restarting your heart like a defibrillator/pacemaker, creates a cooling reaction in a cooling pad inside your body to cool nearby blood, and then the cooled blood is pumped through the body. This cooling slows cell death and gives you a few hours to be revived (like people who've drowned in Arctic ice water and then were revived a few hours later)

Replacement Body / Replacement Brain

Futuristic, SciFi, Tech, HealthTom WalmaComment

Idea: In the 1950s, a Russian scientist was able to attach a dog's head onto another dog's body, and it survived for a few weeks. We should be able to do much better now. So if a person is terminally ill, we should attach their brain/head to a machine (i.e. replacement body) to get maybe a few months of extra life, and attach the body to a machine (i.e. replacement brain). The head/brain can live a little longer and have fun in virtual reality games, and the body can be used for medical testing, without worrying about causing suffering. Over time, as the technology gets better, the head can live longer and longer, to the point where maybe everyone who is old and/or has minor health problems will choose to do it, even if not terminally ill

Childhood Obesity Cure

Health, ParentingTom WalmaComment

Idea: To give obese kids/teenagers HGH (human growth hormone), so they become taller and less obese. Maybe also give kids/teenagers who are likely to become obese drugs to stunt their growth, so that later when they start to become obese, they can be given higher doses of HGH to fight harder against obesity.

10 Coronavirus Prevention Ideas

Health, SillinessTom WalmaComment

Ten (mostly dumb) ideas to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, including smelling bad on purpose to encourage social distancing, four ways to block particles being sneezed out or coughed up from spreading, two gadgets that prevent you from touching your face, an app which uses augmented reality glasses to highlight possibly-infected people to help you avoid them, "no-touch" bathrooms where you never have to touch anything (and risk getting Coronavirus on your hands) until you're finished and ready to wash your hands, and a few thoughts about reducing/preventing the spread of Coronavirus in restaurants

Post-COVID Garage Cities

Environmentalism, Futuristic, Tech, App, Business Idea, HealthTom WalmaComment

Idea: An electric car charging station consisting of dozens of 2-stall garages, where each car is charged indoors in privacy in it's own 2-stall garage. The car being charged is in one side of a garage, and "something to do" for around 40 minutes is in the other side of the garage. Examples of "stuff to do" include private movie theaters, barbers, dentists, Redbox movie rental machines, restaurant tables, hot tubs, etc. The "things to do" could be wheeled in on demand and ordered using a phone app. These 2-stall garage facilities could basically replace entire cities, and could slow down the transmission of the Coronavirus because they reduce or eliminate person-to-person contact, and they can be modified to implement virus protection measures more easily than normal stores/businesses (for example, an airproof plastic sheet could be placed between the customer's side of the garage and the business/service side of the garage). They could also help small businesses financially survive the Coronavirus because these businesses would no longer need a storefront or fixed location building which would require them to pay rent every month. Also, they could be a place for you to watch a sad movie where other people can't see you cry

Biggest Loser Online Dating

App, Health, Social MediaDavid StevesComment

Idea: An online dating site for people trying to lose weight, because "The Biggest Loser" is the most successful TV reality show for creating real-life married couples, and because "the couples who lose weight together stay together". The site could match local people like Tinder, and get them to work out together in the same gym, because the military shows that shared perseverance through a hardship often creates strong, lifelong social bonds

Self-Doubt Removal Pill

Food, HealthGerrit ElzingaComment

New Low-Carb Eating Utensils

Food, Health, InventionTom WalmaComment

Fitbit Reward Mystery Box Service

Business Idea, App, HealthTom WalmaComment

Idea: A service that delivers you customized candy/rewards inside clear locked boxes which you can't open until you meet your exercise goals, as determined by your Fitbit (or fitness tracker). Or you can choose for the rewards to be "mystery boxes", including possible cash prizes, but if you don't exercise enough to unlock the box within a few weeks, you have to ship it back, not knowing if you would've been a millionaire

No Hot Shower Water Until You Floss

Health, Invention, TechTom WalmaComment

Tom didn't floss. He bought a water pik, and he still didn't floss. He bought a water pik to go into his shower, and he still doesn't floss. So he thinks there should be an app to detect that you use the shower water pik, and if you don't use it, it blocks you from having hot water in the shower. That way, maybe he'll finally floss
