Toady Mustard (Improv Show Format)

Event or Activity, SillinessShelly SmithComment

Idea: An improv show format which is an absurdist parody of a rigid agenda-based speech of a Toastmaster public speaking course. The name "toady mustard" is based on a funny autocorrect re-spelling of the word "Toastmaster". Also: the rigid agenda would give the improv performers clear roles and make the longform show feel like a series of distinct shortform games and bits (each agenda topic would be a different bit/game); absurdist agenda items could include dance breaks, giving the audience foot rubs, calling out the jerk of the room, etc.

Prankulance

Prank, SillinessMatthew RyanComment

A loose conversation and brainstorming session about pranks, many performed by EMTs in an ambulance, and an idea to turn an old ambulance into a prank/flashmob entry/getaway vehicle. Also: a prank involving stealing pizzas and/or spoiling them by putting pineapple on them; using "Oh Danny Boy" from the Chumbawumba song "Tubthumping" as the siren for the prankulance; a heist movie parody with five pranksters and the prankulance, involving stealing extra food from parties and (like Robin Hood) redistributing it to needy broke comedians, and also handing babies live chickens (as a distraction during the food theft, and also because Shelly thinks babies holding chickens are really cute)

Food History App

App, FoodLisa GreenComment

Idea: An app that keeps track of all of your food orders from all apps and allows you to quickly search through them to find a meal to order again. Also: it shouldn't take 300 clicks and a memory puzzle to find a specific dish in food delivery app(s); the hilariousness of kids using apps to order crazy things like 1000 popsicles; combining the food history app with Spotify to recommend foods based on your mood; the creepiness of predictive/AI apps and privacy-violating apps, such as when social media apps figure out women are pregnant before they do; ranting about social media pet peeves

Chakra Goddess

Standup Comedy, Event or Activity, ArtShelly SmithComment

Idea: A comedic performance (either on stage or on TikTok) in an over-the-top costume representing one of the seven chakras which shows both love for and criticism of gurus and the culture of yoga, meditation, and "New Age"/"Eastern" religion/spirituality. Also: Shelly walking through the audience of a comedy club spreading sage and blessing hecklers while dressed as a "root chakra" in a brown root-like skirt with megaphones sticking out of her neck; brainstorming the performance style (Colbert Report-style embodiment of a crazy guru, speaking in deep lingo that the audience won't understand, comedic jumps between deep new-age spiritual concepts and broad topics i.e. "when I'm embodying my highest self I don't eat donuts"), the artistic ideal of focusing exclusively on your artistic vision and not worrying about or even finding out (in the case of social media) what the audience thinks; the risk of failing to live up to that artistic ideal and bombing painfully and becoming the crying girl in a flower costume in the Blind Melon "No Rain" music video

TeleGeeter

Silliness, SciFiMike GeeterComment

Idea: A sci-fi teleportation device built into showers (because "Dr. Who"-style phone booths don't really exist anymore, and therefore the shower is the most common pod-shaped location to use for teleportation). Also: keeping your shower cleaner because people will be teleporting in and out of it; using it to escape from bad dates; always teleporting to remote toilet facilities instead of having a toilet in your house; kids teleporting between bathrooms in their house to confuse their parents (like a chase scene in Scooby Doo); burning yourself with hot water in the shower and then accidentally pressing the teleport knob and getting teleported to a random house
