Cars

"Ice Baby" Winter Car Cover

Cars, InventionTom WalmaComment

Idea: A heated car cover for winter so you don't have to scrape snow and ice off your car. When not in use, it would be kept inside a box in one of the car seats. The box would look like a baby, and would be hollow like a Russian nesting doll. The car cover would be permanently attached to the box, and would have a hole for your car door latch, so you could close your car door with part of the car cover still inside the car (and also connected to the cigarette lighter for electricity to heat the car cover in the rare case that ice freezes it to the outside of the car). Also, keeping part of the car cover attached to the box in the car seat ensures that the car cover is always aligned correctly for quickly and easily wrapping it around the car (i.e. you don't have to fumble with finding the front of the car cover, the car cover blowing away, etc). Also: a parking spot which has an electric car charger could also have some sort of electronic device to keep snow and ice off the car which is parked there; using fire to remove a frozen-on car cover

MegaHighways to Russia and South America

Politics and Social Issue, CarsTom WalmaComment

Idea: To build super-high-speed highways from the US to Russia and to South America, to compete with China's "new silk road" in Europe/Asia/Africa. Also: transporting oil using self-driving electric trucks instead of pipelines; since there's already a device called a "salmon cannon" to allow salmon to go upstream past dams, we could create a "bear cannon" to shoot bears across highways

Blocking Cell Phone Signals While Driving

Cars, Politics and Social Issue, TechKurt BrownComment

Idea: Cars that disable your cell phone while you're driving, so you don't cause a car accident trying to text or use the phone. Also: using a breathalyzer while driving at full speed; if cars blocked cell phones, idiots would try to use their phone by holding it out the window, causing them to lose their arms in car accidents or by hitting tree branches, making the US look like Sierra Leone

Phone Numbers as License Plate Numbers

Cars, SillinessDavid WellfareComment

Idea: To use people's phone numbers as their license plate numbers, so if another driver ticks you off, you can call them in rage. Also: nitpicking a joke, stealing someone's license plate and joyriding to cause their phone to ring incessantly, mistaking a Michigan State "SPARTY" license plate as "SPORTY", car roof holograms

Valet Simulator Videogame

Cars, Event or ActivityJon RuggieroComment

Idea: A silly, over-the-top "valet simulator" videogame, similar in spirit to Paperboy, where you have to dodge obstacles, fight off dragons, perform reckless driving maneuvers, etc. and still return the car to the owner with minimal damage. Also: the odd trend of videogames based on boring jobs, tipping the hospital valet, tipping driverless cars, accidentally leaving stuff in the car like guns, babies, or both a gun and a baby

Mandatory Texting Car

Cars, Evil, SillinessDiego AttanasioComment

Idea: A car which requires you to be texting the entire time you drive it. Also: waiting to check your texts until you're driving, questioning whether you'd be allowed to drive if you didn't have friends to text, texting at parties to cope with social anxiety, autonomous cars forcing you to text if you're drunk to keep you from trying to drive

Car Dealership Murder Mystery

Cars, Event or Activity, MoviePeggy BeattieComment

Idea: A comedic murder mystery play similar to the movie "Clue" which takes place in a racially-diverse car dealership during a big car sale. Also: your coworkers at the car dealership are being killed off but you don't run away or call the police because their deaths mean that you'll get more sales commissions, the worst customers at a used car dealership are white women who are retired schoolteachers

Archimedes Death Mirror

Evil, Cars, Silliness, TechSteve HansenComment

Idea: To somehow use your rear-view mirror to blind people who are driving behind you with their brights on. Also: the poetic justice of blinding someone with their own light, intentionally becoming a victim so you can justifiably take delicious revenge

Car Roof Holograms

Evil, Cars, SciFi, Silliness, TechTom WalmaComment

Idea: Holograms on the roofs of cars for expressing anger to nearby drivers. Also: sparkly ambulances in Japan, the 2Pac hologram, the Pepper's ghost illusion, mistaking the car roof hologram for a soul leaving the body after a car crash

Mechanic Sitcom

Cars, TV ShowAnthony SlandaComment

Idea: A sitcom about a mechanic, featuring all of the weird things about being a mechanic in a car dealership, such as people leaving weird things in their car (guns, soiled undies, drugs, etc.), people's dumb failed attempts to fix their own cars, and how it's somehow still allowed for them to display pictures of nude women in the workspace

"Honky" Custom Car Horn Sound Device

Invention, Tech, CarsTed MossComment

Idea: A device (the "honky") that makes different car horn sounds to communicate different things, like "look out", "excuse me", "screw you", or "my bad". Also, maybe configurable text on the front/rear or your car that says "move over"

Future Car

Business Idea, Environmentalism, Futuristic, Invention, Tech, CarsTom WalmaComment

Idea: A single-person electric car/vehicle that's skinny enough to drive through a door into a house or building (so you no longer need a garage, and you can go fast down hallways at work). It can orient itself both horizontally like a motorcycle and vertically like a Segway, and travel up and down elevator shafts instead of using elevators.

Also, the privacy of having your own transportation vehicle is important, because at least one day of your life you'll probably shart your pants, and you don't want to prolong your humiliation by taking public transportation back to your house

Privatized Roads

Futuristic, Tech, CarsMark SweetmanComment

Idea/prediction: If a company like Tesla or Uber owns all of the cars instead of people owning cars, they will have a financial incentive to own the roads and keep the roads in good shape, because they would have to pay for damage to their massive fleet of cars due to potholes, etc. Also, they could remove "redundant roads" to save costs, because if it takes longer to deliver stuff to a place because the road on the most direct route no longer exists, that extra time doesn't cost much if the cars are all electric and self-driving

Modular Indoor/Outdoor Electric Flying Car

Drones, Environmentalism, Futuristic, Invention, Tech, CarsTom WalmaComment

Idea (NSFW): A single-person electric car whose chassis can switch between horizontal mode (like a motorcycle) and vertical mode (like a Segway). When in vertical mode, it would be thin enough to fit through an ordinary door, so you could drive it inside buildings and up and down elevators. Modular attachments would be available, such as an SUV-like "family compartment" or a quadcopter flying car attachment

Cars Without Batteries

Invention, Doomsday Prepping, CarsTom WalmaComment

Idea: Cars don't need batteries. Brakelights can be LED lights with batteries built into the bulb. The speedometer and console (except the fuel gauge) can be a phone app. The electricity needed to start the car (i.e. ignition) can be obtained by electric car charging stations which are being added to parking spots.

Car Hookup Spot App

App, NSFW, Social Media, CarsJeff HorsteComment

An app to tell you the best places (private, safe from cops and criminals) to hook up in your car, which you might want to do because you don't want to show your partner how gross your apartment is. Plus, a beneficial role for perverts in society

Bad Driver Hunger Games Lottery

Evil, Tech, CarsBrandon PonkeComment

If someone is at fault in a car accident, almost causes an accident, or is just being a jerk on the road, their car's AI computer (which all cars will be required to have installed) will detect that this occurred, and then, when they park, the car will release knockout gas. Then the person will be put in a lottery with like 100 other bad drivers, and the person whose name gets drawn will be punished. The punishment will be that they'll be killed, or they'll be given drugs that cause them to poop their pants in their car
