Mass Transit Sky Trams

Idea: To use "sky trams" (aka "aerial tramways" or "cable cars") for mass transit in the US. They could be used in several places, such as in the mountains, between skyscrapers, in the center of split highways, in Miami after Florida sinks underwater due to global warming, and in Alaska after the permasoft melts and turns the ground to mud. Also: self-driving cars syncing together to drive really close to each other at exactly the same speed and designed to be aerodynamic while tailgating each other; commuting via electric bicycle and the theft/vandalization of electric bikes and scooters

Exercise Machine Videogame Controllers

Idea: Handles for an exercise machine (such as a treadmill, bicycle, rowing machine, or even free weights) which contain a game controller for XBox/Playstation/Steam to allow you to play A-list videogames while exercising. The handles could be swapped from exercise machine to exercise machine to allow you to perform a type of exercise which doesn't interfere with your gameplay at any given moment. The actual exercise (the pedaling of a bicycle, for example) wouldn't impact the gameplay, although maybe that feature could be added later as an enhancement. Also: gyms are like medieval torture; almost falling off the back of a treadmill when preparing to jump in a videogame; playing a videogame while exercising to improve your fitness training; nerdy details on Tom's prototype treadmill videogame controller and how exercise equipment manufacturers could incorporate videogames into their devices

Black GPS

Idea: A GPS system for your car which has special features for Black people and which has a strong voice personality, such as Samuel L. Jackson, who yells at you to ensure you don't ignore important warnings (like to avoid dangerous areas). Also: instead of warning you about speed traps, it'd warn you about "trap houses"; instead of warning you about a "disabled vehicle ahead", if you're approaching a broke ex's house, it'd warn you of a "disabled man ahead"; letting you know if cops are nearby; the GPS system could use a megaphone to yell at potential carjackers outside your car to scare them off

Drone Food Delivery To Moving Vehicles

Idea: To have drones deliver food to people in moving vehicles, such as cars stuck in traffic. Also: how some technology of today would seem insane and/or ridiculous to people in the past; holding out bags of food on hooks which people on trains can grab as the train drives by; having drones swap your normal helmet with a "beer helmet" while you're driving a motorcycle

GoZebos and Snap-In Windows

Idea: Gazebos and other structures (yurts, sunbathing pods, dune buggies, pontoon boats) which can be converted between "open-air structures" and "enclosed shelter-providing structures" by snapping in/out modular clear plastic windows. The idea is, instead of living in a "house", to instead live most of your life in the open air, and only enclose yourself "indoors" (i.e. within walls and windows) for brief moments of shelter, such as sleeping, avoiding cold or rainy weather, using the bathroom, etc. Also: robots transporting most of your stuff between the structures and a neighborhood warehouse on-demand; the increased danger of bear attacks; a music festival where people construct small temporary shelters around the stage and live there for days or weeks

Idea: To use Boston Dynamics robotic dogs to save the lives of people whose hearts have stopped by jumping on their chests and rapidly cooling their bodies, thus giving rescuers an extra hour or two to revive them. Also: "ice dogs" roaming the neighborhood looking for medical emergencies and, in the meantime, serving as police dogs and package delivery dogs; the risk of "ice dogs" sticking to your body like a frozen flagpole; robotic "hot dogs" to prevent malfunctioning "ice dogs" from freezing healthy people to death

Covid-Era Wedding DJ In A Box

Idea: A DJ-in-a-box for a Covid-era wedding (or other social event). It'd be extremely cheap because the socially-distanced event would only have around 10 people in attendance and therefore wouldn't justify the cost of a normal human DJ. It'd consist of an oscillating fan with some laser pointers taped to it, a pack of three "smart light bulbs" to put around the venue, and a Spotify playlist which you say is customized but is actually the same playlist for every wedding. Also: a self-hating DJ; optional add-ons like a holographic DJ, a celebrity Cameo for a wedding toast, and an entire wedding-in-a-box; a sad single person ordering a DJ-in-a-box to use alone in his apartment

Virtual Commute

Idea: A virtual-reality simulation of your daily commute to work, to help make you feel like your life has returned to post-Covid normalcy. You'll get the sensation of moving a couple hundred feet every few minutes, just like a real commute. You can simulate driving inconveniences such as stressful traffic jams (by locking the virtual-reality helmet onto your head until you're late logging onto your real work computer), cracked windshields (the crack appears to slowly grow on the VR headset's screen until you pay $65 in real money to get it repaired), and lifespan-reducing smog (by breathing through a pipe which is hooked up to your furnace). There could also be a bus simulation for kids to simulate their daily commute to school, which could include a gadget that throws real spitballs at them to simulate being bullied on a real bus

Drone Charging Network

Idea: A kit for toy drone enthusiasts to convert an attic vent to a "drone doggy-door" and put a grid of wireless drone charging stations in their attic. They could then register their house as a "drone charging station" to create a nationwide "drone charging network", thus allowing people to gradually fly toy drones (which are connected to the cell phone network) across the country

Electronic Wedding Ring

Idea: An electronic wedding ring that can log when and where you take it off, to prevent cheaters from taking off their wedding rings. Although, if sunspots knock out the GPS satellites, it'd be like "Cheater Christmas". And in the future, when most people have "augmented reality" glasses, the glasses could augment how other people see the married person, to either make them appear uglier or hide them behind a "digital burka" so people aren't attracted to them

Futuristic Chore-Free House

Idea: A nearly empty house where almost everything is wheeled in and out by robots. Things like toilets would be cleaned in a neighborhood warehouse when they're wheeled out. Services such as cooking and laundry would also be offered by the neighborhood so you don't have to do it and also you don't need to own the appliances. Invisibility And Avatar Cloak

Idea: If cameras continuously record what one side of your body sees, and then flexible, clothing-like screens on the other side of your body display the recorded video in real-time (or if you were inside a cylinder of solid, curved monitors), you'd look invisible. But you don't have to just display what was captured by the cameras. You could display the image of another (smaller) person walking and moving in the same way you are, with that person's image surrounded by the video captured by the cameras, so the remainder of your body which is not displaying the other person's image would appear invisible

The self-driving delivery car might combine multiple deliveries in one trip like Uber carpooling, and might not arrive at your house as quickly as you do

Futuristic Tiny Houses vs. Universal Basic Income

Idea: Tom thinks his futuristic (and cheap) tiny house idea is a better idea than having a "universal basic income", and his futuristic tiny houses would also eliminate house chores, allow you to move instantly without packing your stuff, give you time to pursue your dreams, and even solve infrastructure problems like the Flint Water Crisis. Virtual-Only Experiences With Real Human Guides

A bunch of ideas for virtual (i.e. Zoom/Skype) entertainment experiences with real human guides, where the experiences would be impossible to do in-person in the real world (as opposed to "Amazon Explore", which is virtual versions of real-world experiences). Examples include virtual tours of historical places and historical disasters, virtual tours of real-world places with "inappropriate" tour guides (such as comedians), video-drone tours of real world places which are off-limits to tourists (the moon, parts of the Grand Canyon, etc.), and real world events/games where the person participating virtually plays a role of a team (for example, being a lookout in a heist)

Social Toy Drones

Idea (NSFW, dark humor): Flying a toy drone with a videocamera on it is like playing a videogame where nothing fun happens. A videodrone would be much funner if it had a speaker and a screen to show your face, that way you could do social things with real people and other videodrones. Examples include games like hide-and-seek, guided sky tours, drone charging "forts", kids using the drones to play together outside when their parents make them stay inside, playing with animals using apps that make animal noises, etc. Also: controlling a drone with your mind so that you feel like an actual bird

Cam Dogs

Idea: A web site where you can interact with a real dog virtually via a webcam, and also control robotics to feed the dog, pet the dog, and play with the dog (such as by throwing a ball). Possible customers include lonely elderly people, people in hospitals, people who are allergic to dogs or live in places where dogs aren't allowed, people in public (traveling or at work or school) who need to relax, etc. Also: emotionally blackmailing customers with pictures of sad dogs if they stop using the service; using footage of the dog in a "Black Mirror"-like scenario to create a robot with the same personality as the dog; themes or scenarios, such as a Scooby Doo robotic ghost adventure
