Idea: A buffet where you order your food by watching a live video feed (while you're at a drive-thru or using an app) and telling a worker who's at the buffet what foods to grab. Also: using robots to scoop the food and/or deliver the food; having it count calories as they scoop, and using the remote buffet for all of your meals to ensure portion control to lose weight; drive-thru liquor stores using "growlers" and other refillable containers to buy the exact quantity of alcohol that you want; an embarrassing childhood buffet incident at Ponderosa Steakhouse

Performer Availability-Booking App

Idea: An app for comedians/performers to coordinate with bookers to schedule gigs, where the performers list their avails in the app, and a set of show bookers (similar to those on "MCN" aka "Michigan Comics Network" on Facebook) browse through and select available performers to book them for their shows. Also: multiple bookers could see that you're available to perform on a given day, and the first one to choose you gets you, so performers don't have to, for exmaple, apply to two weekly Monday shows on alternating Mondays; allowing performers to set availability criteria using custom macros/scripts, such as that they don't want to drive a long distance for a small amount of performance time or pay; info in the app about the performers (clips, bios, warnings from other bookers, etc.) and the venue (free drink tickets, stage props available for improv acts, etc.); the weirdness of standup comedy venues not wanting comedians to wear shorts

Tabletop Game AI Assistant

Idea: An app which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to assist (not replace) the dungeon master and possibly other players in "Dungeons & Dragons" (D&D) and other similar tabletop games. Also: helping the dungeon master by generating maps, NPCs, rooms, quests, etc. before the game and/or on-the-fly during the game, using configured settings, randomization, and the current state of the game (which the AI would know by listening to the game); explaining D&D to newbies (both in this podcast and in the proposed app); using AI to generate a visual display of the current state of the game for all of the players, including the floor plan of the current room, info of the NPCs you're interacting with, etc.; drinking while playing D&D and other tabletop games

International House of Toilets

Idea: A commercialized bathroom that contains different types of toilets from around the world (bidets, pit toilets, etc.), so you can try them out before traveling or before buying one, and to allow foreigners to use a familiar type of toilet. Also: extra clothes for the case of mishaps, such as a knee snapping and causing you to fall into a pit toilet; an "assport" as a souvenir with stamps indicating which nation's toilets you've successfully used; the World War 2 challenge; a "gravy enema" to "put one in the chamber" to try out the toilet; Tom didn't know how an enema works

Drive-Thru Buffet

Idea: A drive-thru buffet where your car sits on a moving track inside a building (like an automatic car wash), you stick your arm out the car window and grab food as your car slowly moves by the buffet tables, and your car (with you and the food inside) is weighed to see how much food you grabbed to determine how much to charge you. Also: backing up and crashing if you missed a food that you want; "coal rolling" to pepper the food with exhaust; tweaks to make the idea a little more practical, like standing next to the car as it moves through the buffet to better reach the food, or a redesign where the car is parked next to a round rotating buffet

Idea: An app for comedians which uses AI to analyze recordings of their sets and split it into separate jokes, rate the audience reaction to each joke, and create tags (hashtags, not "joke tags") to organize the jokes into broad categories, such as "parenting" or "dating". Also: creating a profile for a comedy venue of how well different types of jokes (by tag) do there, to help comics tweak their sets to accomodate the venue before ever performing there; using AI-based profiles of comics to choose who to book, and possibly causing venues to segregate into comedy niches; using AI to detect if a joke is too common, hacky, or stolen; tricking the AI

Also: admitting other embarrassing things in dating profiles, like STDs or financial debt; a kink tolerance sliding scale in the app, like to tolerate their extreme kink, they have to make lots of money; setting chores or qualifications for your partner to "unlock" their kink like in a videogame; ruining the fun of the idea by comparing dating sites to tax prep sites

Idea: A nationwide grid of volunteer drone enthusiasts who set up their homes as "drone charging stations", so cellular/satellite-controlled hobby drones can hop across the country from house to house, while the person piloting the drone is doing so from the convenience of their own house. Also: kits for setting up your house as a drone charging station, either in your garage or your attic; shipping the drones across areas without any charging stations, or swapping control of drones with other people in different regions; having volunteers fix drones and get them out of trees, possibly with the aid of falcons; using the drones and drone stations to sightsee, do scavenger hunts, consensually peek in windows via an OnlyFans-style service, receive Amazon packages inside your house, and transfer data of a non-Internet-based social network

Idea: An app that can quickly get a list of foods in your house and find recipes that can be made using those foods, including serious recipes, recipes that are a fusion of different types of cuisine, and even weird life-hack-style recipes. Also: using your phone to scan your cupboards to get the available ingredient list, including estimates of how much of the ingredient you have left and expiration dates; finding recipes where you need one or two additional ingredients before you go grocery shopping and putting them on your shopping list; fake meats and the "deepfaking of food"; futuristic food printers and how they could replicate the annoyances of modern-day inkjet printers

Idea: A service to hire entertainers (celebs, magicians, etc.) for your funeral or a funeral of a loved one, so the funeral is less sad and has more of the feel of a social gathering that celebrates the life of the deceased. Also: secretly hiring celebrity actors to pretend that they were your friend; inappropriate laughter at a funeral; funeral pranks, such as hiring the "Weekend at Bernie's" actors or having the Publisher's Clearing House barge into the funeral and then say that they can't give away the money because the person is deceased

AI Restaurant Picker App

Idea: An app that each member of a group who're gonna eat together have on their phone, which collects everyone's food preferences, dietary restrictions, restaurant ratings, recent food orders, etc. and uses AI, randomization, info from restaurants (possibly even real-time info, like how busy they are), etc. to pick a restaurant to eat at or order from. Also: avoiding the age-old stalemate of "where do you wanna go", "I don't know, where do you wanna go"; having the app pick the restaurant could prevent people from assigning toxic blame to each other if the restaurant sucks, because it's not their fault, it's the app's fault; keeping track of how often a restaurant which is more preferred by one person than another is picked, to balance things out; showing bullet points of the reasons why a particular restaurant is picked (maybe one out of a group of ten is a vegan), and allowing you to choose to exclude a particular reason and retry picking a restaurant; including custom criteria like time, cost, etc.

Idea: A dark comedy movie where a young couple who are both improv actors pull a series of increasingly complex pranks on each other, until one gets the other to help commit a murder by tricking them into thinking it's just a prank. Also: how North Korea hired pranksters and tricked them into murdering Kim Jong Un's brother; whether or not to leave the audience guessing; eating cereal-like baby food snacks because they're half the calories of Cheerios and the other "healthy" cereals

Idea: An app or setting for your smart phone to detect whether you're wearing glasses and adjust the text size accordingly, so you don't have to manually go to settings to increase the text size to read the phone in bed at night after taking off your glasses. Also: automatically changing the font type (not just the font size) when you take off your glasses so you can see it better (or to be funner and less formal); fake spoiler pranks, and reading plots of books and movies on Wikipedia so you can lie and say you've read or seen it; reading while drunk or high, and possibly dumbing down the content of what you're reading if you're drunk; Hollywood teeth

City Socks

Idea: Vending machines in cities that contain socks and other cheap items that you might occasionally need due to weather or other scenarios when you're out on the town, such as socks (if your feet got wet from stepping in a puddle or something), sticks of deodorant ("City Sticks), hairbrushes and dry shampoo, sunblock, tampons, etc. Also: putting a baby blue silhouette of your city's skyline on the socks; you could re-use the Japanese used-panty vending machines; questioning whether there would be a social stigma to be seen in public wearing "city socks"; this might cause alleys in cities to be strewn with used condoms and soggy socks

Prison Labor Household Robots

Idea: To have partially-automated robots in your house that can be controlled remotely by prisoners located in a prison, who can supervise the robot doing chores most of the time, and take over when the robot "gets stuck" or has problems. Also: security concerns, such as blocking out addresses on envelopes on the prisoner's video feed, having the robot only work when the homeowner is not home, etc.; kinky homeowner-robot-prisoner scenarios; using the prison labor household robots to help the lower class; comparing AI and prison labor to slavery and possibly inventing "moral slavery"

Dream Recording Pillow

Idea: A pillow that records your dreams so you can watch them later. Also: using it to steal people's secrets; the chore of sifting through dream recordings; using it to detect that a nightmare is in progress and then having a real world machine grab your feet to scare you; if two heads are on the pillow at the same time, maybe they could they enter each others dreams, in which case if a cockroach is on the pillow, you could enter the cockroach's dream and find mold inside the wall of your house
